In Memoriam: Tony Gravina

On Wednesday, July 10, 2019, Tony de Gravina, husband, father, sailor, lifelong Habs fan and all-around amazing guy, passed away at the age of 75 with his loving family in his heart and by his side. Tony was born on November 17, 1943. He received a commerce degree from Sir George Williams University and spent 35 years at the head office of Sears Canada in Montreal, eventually directing their women’s sportswear and leisure wear lines. Tony was a boater at heart and loved nothing more than being out on the water on his day cruiser, sailing out of his beloved Hudson Yacht Club or working on Formula 1 powerboat engines in the PTR shop. A clever man, Tony surrounded himself with women: his wife of 53 years, Wendy, to whom he was completely devoted and in awe of, and his four daughters, Darlene (Brian), Dierdre, Tiffany (Chris) and Holly (Jason) who were his pride and joy. Tony was blessed with five grandchildren, Derius, Arielle, Deanna, Luke and Reese and each was anointed with at least one Tony-given nickname. There are no words big enough to describe how loved he was, and how much he will be missed by his devoted family. A memorial service to honour this lovely man will be held in Barrie, Ontario at a later date in September 2019. Donations in Tony’s memory may be made to The Last Post Fund, a charity that ensures Canadian Veterans receive a dignified funeral and burial, regardless of financial status; a cause that meant a lot to Tony. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family at www.steckleygooderham.com
