Inese Godiņš
Former Guidance Counsellor
December 23, 1954 – July 7, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Inese Godiņš on July 7. Inese died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her partner Lorraine Descôteaux (Karina, Kurt & Kahlo), her brother Peter (Victoria), her nephews Eric and Davis, her cousins Vita (John), Alda (Juris), Izolde (Janis) as well as family members and friends in Canada and Latvia.
Inese spent her career in guidance counseling at Beaconsfield, John Renee, and Lindsay Place High Schools where she helped guide many young people and was particularly passionate and proud of the Student Literacy Club and (GAB) Getting Along Better group. She also coached tennis and facilitated lacrosse.
Inese had a wonderfully competitive spirit and loved games and sports of all sorts. She won medals in singles and mixed doubles tennis and was a daunting pitcher during her softball career as well as a passionate golfer. Her happy place was the family cottage at Half Moon Lake.
Inese and Lorraine loved exploring the world together and went back to visit their roots in Latvia and Italy and enjoyed golfing in many exotic places. Inese is now on her final adventure and we thank her family and dear friends who have journeyed with her.
To make a contribution in her memory, please donate to the West Island Palliative Care Center, Latvian Camp Tervete, scholarship funds for Pearson Educational Foundation or Cancer Research.
